  20.      Textread is a more/ppmore/... clone. The main difference is the speed.
  21.      Textread is designed to be as fast as possible, yet system friendly.
  22.      Some of the features are:

  25.       o Support for XPK and PowerPacker
  26.       o Multibuffer
  27.       o Multi settings
  28.       o Softscroll (well it sucks, really)
  29.       o RTG compatible
  30.       o Can use any fixed-width font system-friendly
  31.       o Can use any 8×8 pixel font on Amiga bitplanes
  32.         with very fast text routines
  33.       o Supports pipes

  40.       This  release  is  called  1.14,  but  it is not finished.  Because I have
  41.      failed  - big time - to release new upgrades, I have decided to release the
  42.      source  code in the hope that somebody is willing to take over Textread.  I
  43.      still  consider  this  program  to be very good, I use it every day myself.
  44.      Sure,  some  things  are  lacking, but the fact is that it has everything I
  45.      need.   That,  and  the fact that it is written completly in assembler, are
  46.      the reasons why I don't have any motivation to continue to improve it.

  48.       So  instead  of letting more time pass, my hope is that somebody out there
  49.      can  clean  up  the  source,  fix  the  bugs and release a new version.  Or
  50.      perhaps  just  keep  the  good  parts and begin from scratch (may I suggest
  51.      another language than assembler?).
